I am Auninda Alam, a Systems Analyst with a Master of Information Technology. I have experience working as a Software Engineer and a Systems Analyst, as well as some experience in lecturing at the higher education level. My research interest is in Artificial Intelligence, and I am passionate about encouraging IT students and professionals to embrace versatility, problem-solving, and lifelong learning.
This talk explores how the IT Helpdesk role is one of the most versatile entry points into the technology industry. Drawing from my experience as a Systems Analyst, I share how IT students, whether specialising in Cybersecurity, Software Development, or Artificial Intelligence, are first and foremost problem-solvers. I highlight how core IT skills are transferable across domains, how adaptability is the most valuable skill in a rapidly changing industry, and why the IT Helpdesk role provides exposure to a wide range of technical challenges. Attendees will walk away inspired to embrace versatility, leverage their training, and use every opportunity to learn, grow, and expand their networks.
